LU DORT CLOSES A CHAMPIONSHIP SUMMER WITH MONTRÉAL CELEBRATION AND LARRY O’BRIEN TROPHY TOUR

Montreal, August 13 2025 – Fresh off his first NBA Championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Montréal-native Luguentz Dort is ending a summer of triumph, community impact, and hometown pride with a series of events in his city.

After playing a pivotal role in the Thunder’s historic playoff run and Finals victory, Dort’s achievements have been celebrated on both sides of the border. In Oklahoma City, Mayor David Holt officially proclaimed July 25 as “Lu Dort Day,” honouring his contributions and success. Back in Canada, Dort has reconnected with the community that shaped his journey through an extensive media tour — and now, he’s bringing the championship celebration home. At home, numerous sports organizations and local events have also recognized this unprecedented achievement, underscoring its significance for both the local community and Canadian basketball as a whole.

Trophy Tour & Hometown Celebrations

On August 20, Dort will accept a special invitation from Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante to City Hall, where 200 members of the sports community will gather to recognize his championship win and his dedication to youth in Montreal.

On August 21, the celebrations continue in Montréal-Nord with a homecoming parade featuring the Larry O’Brien Trophy, organized in collaboration with the borough.

Camp Élite: Inspiring the Next Generation

From August 22–23, the Fondation Maizon Dort will host the 5th edition of Camp Élite, welcoming 50 of Québec’s top young male basketball players for two days of high-intensity training, mentorship, and motivation.

Event updates will be shared on Instagram at @Luthebeast and @maizon_dort.

“This summer has been a dream come true — winning the championship and having the opportunity to come back home, with the trophy, to celebrate here in Montréal,” said Dort. “I’m just grateful to share this with the people who have supported me from day one.”

These events mark the grand finale of Dort’s remarkable Summer 2025, before he returns to Oklahoma City to training for the upcoming NBA season as defending NBA Champions
