THE ANTHONY DUCLAIR FOUNDATION KICKS OFF A SUMMER OF ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION

A fundraising gala on July 17 will be followed by two weeks of development camps in Montreal for youth ages 7 to 14

MONTREAL, July 17, 2026 – The Anthony Duclair Foundation is kicking off an especially active summer with its fundraising gala on July 17 at Dentons' offices at Place Ville Marie, followed by two weeks of development camps for youth ages 7 to 14. These events will bring together the Foundation's partners and community around its mission: making hockey more accessible, inclusive and representative.

Founded by Anthony Duclair, a professional NHL player of Haitian heritage who grew up in Laval, the Foundation works to reduce the financial and social barriers that still prevent too many young people from discovering hockey or continuing their journey in the sport. Its efforts focus especially on low-income families and youth from underrepresented groups, including culturally and ethnically diverse communities, girls and LGBTQ+ youth.

An evening supporting access to hockey

The July 17 fundraising gala will be the first major event of the summer. Held at Dentons' offices at Place Ville Marie, the evening will bring together partners, donors, collaborators and members of the community to support the development of the Foundation's programs.

Funds raised will help provide low-cost activities, financial assistance to families in need, and new initiatives that encourage young people to discover, participate in and remain involved in hockey.

“Hockey has given me extraordinary opportunities, but I also know how difficult it can be to find your place when you do not see yourself represented in the sport or when costs become a barrier. The Foundation exists to open that first door, create an environment where young people feel welcome and help them discover the joy of hockey. This summer, we want to bring the community together around this mission and give even more young people the tools to reach their potential,” said Anthony Duclair, founder of the Anthony Duclair Foundation.

Two weeks of development on and off the ice

A few days after the gala, the Foundation will welcome participants to its Montreal development camp at Aréna Glace de l’Est. The first session will take place from July 20 to 23, followed by a second session from July 27 to 30. Activities will run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Each day will include two on-ice sessions, off-ice conditioning and a range of educational activities. Participants will take part in workshops on nutrition, health, perseverance, leadership, respect and the history of hockey in Quebec. They will also receive guidance and mentorship from players and professionals from across the hockey community.

Over the past four years, more than 200 young people have participated in the Foundation's camps in Montreal and Florida. Beyond developing athletic skills, the camps emphasize fun, confidence, teamwork and the creation of an environment where every young person can feel represented. Previous editions have also welcomed NHL players who offered advice and encouragement to participants. 

A bridge to organized hockey

The Anthony Duclair Foundation does not seek to replace existing organized hockey associations and structures. Instead, it aims to serve as a gateway for young people who might not otherwise have access to the sport.

By working alongside schools, municipalities and hockey associations, the Foundation wants to help more young people discover the sport, develop a sense of belonging and, eventually, continue their journey with organizations in their own communities.
