AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE TODAY

ON TOUR ACROSS QUEBEC AND EUROPE

MONTRÉAL, QC, April 19, 2024 – Today Quebec supergroup THE BROOKS returns with their new single “Soon As I Can,” available everywhere. It’s the lead single from their upcoming new album (with the same title), to be released this year via Big in the GardenThis mature, thrilling song is a nod to 70s African-American movie soundtracks, with dazzling brass, a groovy beat, and vibrant vocals from Alan Prater.

“This song is about struggling with blank page syndrome and the frustration that comes with that, but also about that magical moment when you reach a breakthrough and about the need to give inspiration the time to manifest itself. Basically, it’s a song about writing a song,” explains singer-songwriter Alan Prater (also known for his many collaborations on stage and in the studio, with the likes of Michael Jackson, Millie Jackson, Valaire, and Cameo).

“Soon As I can” is performed by Alan Prater (vocals and trombone), Alexandre Lapointe (bass), Phil Look (guitar and back vocals), Philippe Beaudin (percussion), Max Sanselone (drums), Dan Thouin (keys), Patrice Luneau (saxophone) and Nicolas Boulay (trumpet). Recorded by Fred Bouchard and Marc Bell at Troublemakers Studio, and produced by THE BROOKS.

ABOUT THE BROOKS

From their first performances in the velvety ambiance of the Dièse Onze to the big stages of prestigious festivals, from one side of the Atlantic to the other, The Brooks have built a reputation as an undeniable groove machine. At the heart of the project’s musical supergroup which formed in the early 2010s is the pure joy of playing, true artistic freedom, and equitable creativity. Electrifying on record as much as on stage, The Brooks’ sound is carried by bouncy rhythms, flamboyant brasses, inventive keys, and captivating guitar passages. Swimming between funk, soul, r’n’b, afrobeat, and jazz, The Brooks reunites four core members; the co-founder, leader, and bassist Alexandre Lapointe; the veteran singer and trombonist Alan Prater; guitarist and co-founder Philippe Look; and percussionist Philippe Beaudin; all four accomplished musicians with the careers to prove it. Today, the collective has birthed five studio albums, with their most recent Soon As I Can (2024) pushing their groove to new summits. www.thebrooksmusic.com
