Adding to the excitement, the band has unveiled ticket sales for an exclusive performance on November 8th, 2024, at Café Cléopâtre, one of Montreal’s most iconic venues. Situated on the second floor, this historic cabaret stage has hosted some of the city’s most memorable performances, drag shows, and avant-garde acts.
After releasing their first single of the year "Soon As I Can" on April 16, 2024, and "Coming From the Real" on August 23, 2024, The Brooks are relieved to finally share the full album. Album “Soon As I Can” showcases their signature sound and heartfelt song writing, providing fans with a complete experience they've been eagerly awaiting. The album will be available for streaming and purchase across all major platforms, allowing fans worldwide to immerse themselves in The Brooks' unique blend of soul, funk, and profound storytelling.
Track List:
“Sista” This track is a tribute to the radiant beauty, profound power, and deep spirituality of women. It captures the intense infatuation of a man who, moved by his muse, reshapes his life to be worthy of her love. The song also pays homage to some of the most iconic songstresses of our time, celebrating the voices that have kindled The Brooks' creative fire and heightened their sensitivity in songwriting.
“Coming from the Real” Born out of frustration, this song reflects the creative process. Struggling with what to say to the music in front of him, the songwriter wanted to give up due to time constraints, but instead found inspiration in a dream. Waking up in the middle of the night, the idea came together as the song is presented here—a raw and real moment captured in its purest form.
“What’s That” This track is completely freestyle, a spontaneous reaction to the music being played in the studio. It serves as an interlude or bumper, unedited and off-the-cuff, showcasing the band's improvisational creativity. | “Soon As I Can” This song feels like being trapped in a dream where things just don’t quite come together. It’s about two people trying to connect, making plans to meet, but something always gets in the way. Through back-and-forth texts and missed opportunities, one keeps saying, “I’ll be there soon, as soon as I can,” but it never quite happens.
“The Wall” A song about the struggles of being stuck in a toxic relationship and trying to break free. Despite knowing it's unhealthy, every time you're around that person, it's impossible to resist them. The track explores the emotional barriers and cyclical patterns of such entanglements.
“Mirror Mirror” This is another freestyle piece, a raw and introspective conversation with oneself. It’s a reflective track that delves into self-perception and inner dialogue, capturing a deeply personal moment of self-awareness.
“Miss Molly” This song reminisces about a beloved figure from the neighborhood, someone who was admired and loved by everyone, but is no longer around. "Miss Molly" reflects on the nostalgia of community ties and the sense of loss when a cherished person is gone. |

ABOUT THE BROOKS
From their first performances in the velvety ambiance of the Dièse Onze to the big stages of prestigious festivals, from one side of the Atlantic to the other, The Brooks have built a reputation as an undeniable groove machine. At the heart of the project’s musical supergroup which formed in the early 2010s is the pure joy of playing, true artistic freedom, and equitable creativity. Electrifying on record as much as on stage, The Brooks’ sound is carried by bouncy rhythms, flamboyant brasses, inventive keys, and captivating guitar passages. Swimming between funk, soul, r’n’b, afrobeat, and jazz, The Brooks reunites four core members; the co-founder, leader, and bassist Alexandre Lapointe; the veteran singer and trombonist Alan Prater; guitarist and co-founder Philippe Look; and percussionist Philippe Beaudin; all four accomplished musicians with the careers to prove it. Today, the collective has birthed four studio albums, with their most recent Soon As I Can (2024) pushing their groove to new summits.
The Brooks is much more than the sum of its parts: the group celebrates over 50 years of Afro-American music history and evolution, at once respective of its roots while remaining anchored in the present.
