Gatineau, April 17, 2023 - "After long years of tourism boosting, we are more than ready to offer you an edition of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival that shall prove as wonderful as past ones! From August 31st to September 4th, 2023, the FMG is dedicated to offering a rich and diversified musical lineup, as well as a huge park full of activities that you will be eager to come back to, day after day," announced Marie-Chantal Giguère, Chair of the FMG Board of Directors.

ARTISTIC PROGRAMMING

Since we like surprises, we are saving some announcements for later, but here are the first names in our 2023 lineup!

"My carte blanche is a live compilation of my favorite friends and talents, who have the unique gift of making us vibrate thanks to their majestic voices that give us chills every time! It will be a journey in diverse but complementary universes! I can't wait to introduce them to you, because as a solo act, they transport us, but as a gang, they'll rip it up! I'm definitely going to ask for the soundtrack of this show so I can put it on a loop in my car, ha! ha! It's going to be a great open-air party," says Patrice Bélanger with excitement.

NEW: THE FESTIVE SQUARE

This year, we're enhancing the festival experience, starting with the addition of a third stage under the big top! These are the artists who will be performing country-style shows every afternoon of the long weekend: Phil G. Smith on Saturday, Justin Legacy on Sunday and André Varin & Marie-Claude Gagnon on Monday.

NEW: THE FMG LATE NIGHTS

New concept this year, the FMG Late Nights! From Friday to Sunday, after the last show on the Loto-Québec Stage, meet up in front of the Hydro-Québec Stage, which will be back in operation around 10:30 pm, to continue the party and get you dancing with hip-hop, dance and electro artists. Two of the three Late Nights will be announced later in the summer, but we'll let you know now who will be closing out the Saturday night: La Musica Popular de Verdun comes to La Baie Park with Clay and Friends!

HOT AIR BALLOONS AND FAMILY ACTIVITIES

The site will open its doors earlier this year. From Saturday to Monday, we will be gathering at La Baie Park starting at 10:30 am. A multitude of family activities will be announced shortly, including family shows and activities surrounding Desjardins Family Day on Monday, September 4th. The Beauce Carnaval Amusement Park will also be open every day for those who love thrills. From Thursday to Sunday, all evenings will also feature hot air balloon flights and night glow, weather permitting, as well as fireworks. It's also the return of free access to the site from Friday to Monday mornings to watch the morning hot air balloon flights!

NEW: MULTIMEDIA SHOW

Every evening, the FMG introduces with federal government support a new multi-sensory project that is completely innovative and distinctive, a genuine tribute to the night glow. This multimedia show, designed by the firm 4elements, will be projected onto a hot air balloon structure over 30 feet high, supported by an immense display of 200 feet wide created by luminous spheres shining in the night, all accompanied by the original music of Michel DeMars.

"The video mapping technique allows us to project a 3D animated film custom created by 4elements to fit the shape of the balloon. It's a voyage in a hot air balloon for all festival-goers that transports us into the sky, but also into a world of imagination. We allow ourselves to dream, to fly towards all possibilities. All you have to do is let yourself be carried away by the wind, by the images, the music, and the light for a surreal night flight," says Alexandre Desjardins, director at 4elements.

The RV Park, in partnership with Thibault Démolition, is back again this year allowing you to stay in the heart of the Festival! Hurry to reserve your camping space to stay in the heart of the Festival, spaces are limited.
