New RSEQ Board of Directors

Montréal, October 24, 2024 — The RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) announces the new composition of its Board of Directors for the year 2024-2025, which was unveiled at its Annual General Meeting held on October 24, 2024.

The RSEQ would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. David Heurtel, who is stepping down this year after 4 years of contribution. His support in modernizing the governance has been essential in preparing the future of the RSEQ.

Ms. Marie-Claude Duchesne, previously an administrator in the university sector, has been in charge of administration, programming and customer service at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi since 2018. She has been appointed co-opted member of the school sector. For nearly 25 years, she has built her career on her leadership skills and her ability to rally and mobilize different teams to achieve common goals. To ensure a smooth transition from the presidency of the Board of Directors, Ms. Duchesne will assume the position of Interim President of the Board of Directors.

The RSEQ would also like to thank all outgoing members for their contribution: Isabelle Ducharme, Olivier Audet and Dennis Waide.

Ms. Anne-Marie Rousseau, assistant director responsible for student, international and sports affairs at Cégep de Thetford, is appointed associate member of the college sector and delegate of the Fédération des cégeps. Her vast experience in the student community, and particularly in communications, will be an invaluable asset to the Board of Directors.

Isabelle Lavergne has also been appointed to the Board of Directors as a director for the university sector. Since 2016, she has held the position of Director of Physical Activity and Sports at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, responsible for sports programming and services to the university and Trois-Rivières community, as well as the Patriotes university program.

In addition, several members are continuing their mandate. Mr. Pierre Boulerice, who has been involved with RSEQ provincial committees since 1996, is now vice-president of the school sector on the RSEQ Board of Directors for a 14th year.

Ms. Manon Simard, a member of the Board of Directors as vice-president of the university sector, has been involved in sports networks for over 25 years. She currently holds the position of General Manager, Centre d'éducation physique et des sports de l'Université de Montréal (CEPSUM) and Sport d'excellence program since October 2020.

Yannick Roy has held the position of Director of Teaching and Complementary Services since 2009. The following year, he took up the challenge of becoming Director General of the Harricana School Board, a position he has held to this day. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors since 2020, serving as administrator for the school sector.

Ms. Myrtelle Chéry, a co-opted member of the Board of Directors, has acquired extensive management expertise over the past 20 years in Canada and abroad, working on major projects for leading companies such as SNC-Lavalin, Alstom and GE Power. Since 2020, Ms. Chéry has headed the project control office at ADM Aéroports de Montréal, where she acts as an expert in the implementation of best management practices.

Mr. Michel Guérin, a co-opted member of the Board of Directors, held marketing, partnerships and promotional activations management roles for some 50 brands across Canada during his 27-year career with Procter & Gamble.

Éric Benoit has 10 years' experience in the disabled community, as Director of the RSEQ Saguenay between 2007 and 2018 and, since then, as Student Life Advisor at Collège d'Alma. He serves as vice-president of the college sector on the board of directors, and is also involved in the management committee of the RSEQ college sector commission.

Mr. Patrice Lemieux is the College Sector Administrator on the Board of Directors. He has also been employed at John Abbott College since 2006, having gained significant experience through his various roles: recreation technician, manager of student residences, individual teaching assistant, manager of the sports center and Islanders teams, and manager of external rentals.

Tania Genzardi, school sector administrator and representative of the Fédération des établissements d'enseignement privés, has twelve years' experience in teaching and twelve years as a school principal, which has led her to overcome a variety of management challenges. She has always demonstrated a collaborative approach, putting the well-being of both employees and students first.

The members of the Board of Directors will ensure the principles of good governance in support of the RSEQ's mission to contribute to educational perseverance and success, as well as to personal development through the promotion of health, sport and physical activity among 305,000 student-athletes and 500,000 families across the province.
