“WHAT ABOUT NOW”

(AVAILABLE AT MIDNIGHT ON MAY 24)

FROM "LA VOIX" (THE VOICE) TO NOW: A 10 YEAR JOURNEY SHE OPENS UP ABOUT IN AN INSPIRING SELF-MESSAGE ABOUT RESILIENCE, PERSEVERANCE AND BELIEF.

MONTRÉAL, QC – May 23, 2024 – Montreal musician, performer, and singer-songwriter MELINA Laplante unveils her latest single, “What About Now.” Available to all, on all platforms as of midnight. Following her recent release of “Anchor” last month, this marks the newest addition from the 2014 La Voix (The Voice) Quarter-finalist. MELINA showcases her most intimate, honest, and mature work to date, with more releases on the horizon.

“What About Now” is about trusting the journey, embracing timing, and believing everything happens for a reason. It’s a powerful reminder to reclaim your power and self-belief.

“'What About Now' is a personal tribute to the artist in me—her perseverance, her courage, and her strength to keep believing in herself and pursuing her dreams.

Over the years, I had so many reasons to give up music... But it’s who I am. Looking back, I’m proud of my journey. It made me the artist and woman I am today.

What about now? I'm ready. - MELINA

A departure from her earlier releases, “What About Now” channels the empowering vibes of Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. The upbeat melody highlights MELINA’s powerful vocals in an infectious, high-energy burst of liberation. This track embodies years of determination and strength, leaving fans ready to conquer any challenge.

MELINA has been immersed in music since childhood, sharing a passion with her trained singer mother. She began learning classical piano at age four, including five years at Vincent-D'Indy School of Music, before dedicating herself to pursuing her dream of becoming a professional singer. As a member and soloist of the A Capella choir at Collège Jean de la Mennais, she excelled in competitions like Heritage FestivalSecondaire en spectacle, and Cycle en spectacle. She continued her professional music education in the Music Program at Cégep Marie-Victorin. MELINA’s breakthrough was in 2014, when she reached the quarter-finals of “La Voix” (The Voice) in Marc Dupré’s team. Her performance of Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy” was one of the highlights during her time on the popular TV show, affirming her desire for a music career. In 2017, Melina released her first EP of French compositions “ML” followed by the releasing of the powerful and soulful piece “Hope”.
