LUBALIN & CHARLOTTE CARDIN
DUET ON PHOENIX (REPRISE)
CANADIAN ARTIST AND PRODUCER LUBALIN SHARES HIS VOICE TO GLOBALLY-ACCLAIMED SINGER/SONGWRITER CHARLOTTE CARDIN’S TITLE TRACK OFF CANADIAN #1 DEBUT ALBUM PHOENIX
LUBALIN’S NEW EP IS SET TO BE RELEASED IN FALL 2021

MONTRÉAL, QC – July 8, 2021 – Globally-acclaimed singer/songwriter Charlotte Cardin has teamed up with viral artist/producer Lubalin for “Phoenix (Reprise),” a reimagined duet version of the title track off her critically acclaimed debut album. It is no coincidence that both artists reunited for this single as Lubalin co-wrote the original track.
“Phoenix (Reprise) is probably my favorite song I've ever worked on. It really has its own crazy journey for me, starting with Charlotte's album version of the song. Back in late 2019, before I became "TikTok famous", I met with Jason Brando at Cult Nation to play him some of my demos, including Phoenix. At the time I only had the chorus ("you told me, you loved me...") and a basic beat with piano, 808s and drums. It also had the "oohs" that you hear in the quiet part before the last chorus. Jason asked if he could play it for Charlotte. I said "of course", but I really didn't think anything would come of it. Many weeks later, Charlotte recorded the song. The song made the album. The album will be named after the song, and it'll be the first track. Mind blown!” saysLubalin
“For Phoenix (Reprise), I took all the gorgeous stuff that MAG and Jason did on the album version, and mashed it into my original beat. I brought the crayons back to the oil painting. I also brought back some lyrics that hadn't made it to the album version. I worked really hard on my vocals, trying to keep up with Cha [Charlotte], whose performance on the track is brilliant.” adds the Montreal artist and producer
“There are so many different ways you might relate to the song, that I don't really want to put my interpretation on it. I've heard so many beautiful perspectives, and I just think it's amazing that so many people seem to identify so strongly with the song. I'm amazed that all these different things have lined up to make this happen. It's such a beautiful opportunity and I'm incredibly grateful.” concludes Lubalin
LUBALIN IS NO STRANGER!
At the close of 2020, Montrealer Lubalin skyrocketed to viral TikTok fame overnight thanks to his two hilarious “Internet Drama” parody videos (here and here), which have since earned him 150 million views, 27 million likes, and over 3.1 million followers on the platform and national appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Kelly Clarkson Show as well as recognition in major outlets like Rolling Stone, BuzzFeed, The Los Angeles Times, Vulture, Mashable, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, and many more.
Fascinated by sound from a young age, Lubalin rapidly developed an ease for experimenting with harmonies, melodies, textures, and vocal timbres. Inspired by a broad spectrum of styles — ranging from obscure recordings to big pop hits — his curiosity serves as the driving force in his creative process. These are the elements that make his music unique and are showcased throughout his experimental self-titled debut project, Lubalin EP, released in September 2020.
While Lubalin still has a few Internet Dramas up his sleeve, he’s been writing new music and gearing up for the release of a new EP in the fall of 2021.
