NOTHING BUT BEAUTY FOR THE 41ST
EDITION OF JAZZ FEST!
''Montréal, it feels good! " - Socalled
Montréal, QC - September 19, 2021 -- The 41st edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, presented by TD Bank Group in collaboration with Rio Tinto, will end in style tonight with a moving performance by Patrick Watson and Modibo Keita’s tribute concert to mark the 50th anniversary of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On album, presented as a premiere at the festival! In fact, this show will be the subject of a special program on ICI MUSIQUE.
The almost summer-like weather was the perfect setting for the return of jazz downtown! From September 15 to 19, the Festival presented more than fifty renowned artists who were finally able to reconnect with a "real" audience and share precious moments with their fans.
This edition also marked the first time in the history of the Festival where the public was able to vibrate in unison throughout Quebec but as well as in Canada, United States, France, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, thanks to free real-time webcasts of live performances from the TD stage and the Rio Tinto stage.
It should be noted that nearly 50% of the artists were women, including three out of five headliners, and more than 40% of the artists were from the diversity.
We must also recognize the sustained work of the valorous teams of the Festival, which in this particular year, knew how to make the artists shine and offer a friendly site for the festival goers.
"Over the past five days, we have seen nothing but beauty. Beautiful smiles, beautiful people listening to beautiful music.
We saw these beautiful smiles everywhere: behind the stage, on the stage and especially in front of the stage!"
- Laurent Saulnier
Vice-President, Programming, Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
