Indie Rock Band Half Moon Run at the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival
Gatineau, QC – The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival (FMG) is keeping the excitement going with the unveiling of its latest headliners: Half Moon Run joins the lineup on Saturday, September 5th, while The Barr Brothers takes the stage on Friday, September 4th. A mix of indie, alternative pop, folk, soul, and rock will set the tone for two shows, each offering a unique musical experience.
HALF MOON RUN
With performances in dozens of countries and seven albums and EPs to their name, Half Moon Run has established a strong presence on the international indie rock scene. Based in Montreal and formed by members originally from British Columbia and Ontario, the band is known for its distinctive blend of alternative pop, folk, and indie rock with psychedelic textures, a musical signature that truly comes to life on stage.
Having received widespread recognition, the band has earned multiple awards, including two JUNO Awards for “Adult Alternative Album of the Year” (2020 and 2022) as well as five Félix Awards at the ADISQ Gala, including “Anglophone Show of the Year” (2017 and 2022). The honours highlight a career that continues to resonate with audiences both at home and abroad.

THE BARR BROTHERS
The indie folk band The Barr Brothers was formed in Montreal in 2006 by American brothers Brad and Andrew Barr, who have been musical collaborators for over three decades. Known for their rich and distinctive sound, the band blends folk, blues, soul, and indie rock, weaving together arrangements featuring pedal steel guitar, keyboards, and brass. Their nuanced and immersive musical signature has earned them a loyal following around the world.
After an eight-year wait, the band returns with Let It Hiss, a fourth album marked by a clear personal and artistic transformation.

Other headliners such as Simple Plan (Friday, September 4th), Smash Mouth (Thursday, September 3rd), Matt Lang(Wednesday, September 2nd) and DJ Mike Demero (Friday, September 4th) will also be performing at the Festival, a series of major shows sure to light up the FMG stage!

Tickets are already on sale at fmg2026.ca. The 5-day pass is now available at the reduced price of $74.99, giving festival-goers access to the entire FMG lineup for less than $15 per day.
The 39th edition of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, presented by Loto-Québec in collaboration with Desjardins, will take place from Wednesday, September 2nd to 6th, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be an event to remember!
