Mission accomplished for the 54th edition of Festival d'été de Québec!

Québec City, July 17, 2022 – As the 54th Festival d'été de Québec draws to a close, BLEUFEU announces more than positive results for the most popular musical event in Québec. The FEQ was back in full swing after two years of pandemic-related restrictions. It was a memorable edition in every way, which, for 12 days, saw hundreds of thousands of festival-goers vibrating to the sound of the best of local and international music.

"I am extremely proud of Festival team’s work. I salute their resilience in making this edition a success. The fabulous victories we have had over the past few days and the communion between festival-goers and artists, visibly happy to meet again, have filled this edition with magical moments", declared Anne Hudon, President and CEO of Festival d 'été de Québec.

A new Bell Stage on the Plains of Abraham

Unsurprisingly, the highly anticipated performance of Rage Against the Machine, resuming their missed date of 2020, despite Zack de la Rocha's injury, is a highlight of the festival. Not to mention the finale with the four members moved in front of an ecstatic crowd. The presence of Maroon 5 with an exclusive production made by the FEQ will have attracted a very large crowd. The American group, blown away by the energy of the festival-goers, hopes to return to the FEQ soon. As for Luke Combs, had the important mission: to confirm the popularity of country in Quebec. Mission accomplished. It will also have attracted a large crowd, giving rise to moments of musical communion that festival-goers are not about to forget. The surprise appearance of Luis Fonsi, who came all the way down from Spain specifically for the FEQ, as part of the Alex Sensation show at the Extras FEQ presented by Bell, is also one of the moments to remember. The Latin star who had not been able to give his show on the Plains because of the storm cells therefore came to greet the 800 lucky people massed at the Armory, the time of two songs.

Bell Stage artists had the opportunity to play on a stage designed by and for FEQ, in collaboration with Stageline. This impressive structure included 4 screens and the possibility of attaching a walkway to the public, as seen in Loud’ show.

Side-by-side stages at parc de la Francophonie

At Parc de la Francophonie, headliners followed each other in succession on the Loto-Québec and SiriusXM stages, making for evenings high in emotion. In a sequence of shows with no down time in between, we would like to highlight the packed performances of the X Ambassadors, Dean Lewis, Patrick Watson and Spoon. Francophone night featuring Vincent Vallières and Louis-Jean Cormier was also a hit with the fans, while the punk rock program led by Pennywise and Sum 41 gave rise to a jubilant collective release. Special mention goes to Milky Chance who created quite an ambiance while on the Loto-Québec Stage, spreading smiles and a great mood throughout the crowd.

Festive atmosphere at the Hydro-Québec Stage in Place de l'Assemblée-Nationale

The Hydro-Québec Stage in Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale offered visitors 11 nights of free shows. There were more free shows this year, which alternated between world music and discoveries from here and abroad. We note the dynamic performance of Nigerians Femi Kuti and the positive force, Montreal psych-rock band TEKE::TEKE, winner of the Espoir FEQ 2022 award, and Tiken Jah Fakoly, who, earlier this week received the Miroir de la Renommée award.

FEQ Extras presented by Bell: a resounding success

When they made the Armoury their headquarters in 2019, the BLEUFEU team was betting that this new site would be popular. And they were right. Crowds of festivalgoers responded to the new offers, attending in large numbers the lively FEQ Terrasse, a friendly place to meet and relax close to the Plains. Enthusiasm for the late-night shows, Extras FEQ presented by Bell, was also apparent, the impressive program giving approximately 800 festival-goers the opportunity to attend a variety of high-profile shows. Special mention goes to the performances of Les Louanges and Bran Van 3000, which caused a sensation.
