MONTRÉAL, QC - October 2, 2024 - The Board of Directors of La Compagnie France Film is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacques Aubé as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and General Manager of Espace St-Denis and its subsidiaries. He succeeds Mr. Michel Goulet, who is leaving his position to become a special advisor and will act in this capacity to ensure a smooth and effective transition.
Jacques Aubé's appointment underscores the cultural and economic significance of this flagship location in Quartier Latin in downtown Montreal. With his expertise in managing major cultural events, large-scale shows, and prestigious venues, his visionary approach to developing event offerings makes him the ideal person to oversee the development of Espace St-Denis’ assets. Having led the evenko division of Groupe CH until 2020, then consulting for the Olympic Park, BLEUFEU, and Place des Arts, Jacques Aubé has spearheaded numerous successful projects, contributing to making Montreal a world-renowned hub in the entertainment industry. Mr. Aubé contributed to the growth of major events: as the promoter behind the legendary U2 concerts at the Hippodrome, Metallica at the Olympic Park, and renowned festivals at Parc Jean-Drapeau such as OSHEAGA and îLESONIQ, cultural programming at the Bell Centre, Place Bell, and Quartier des Spectacles, following the acquisition of L’Équipe Spectra which he led operations for major festivals; Les FRANCOS de Montréal, Le Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, and Montréal en Lumière.
La Compagnie France Film is confident that under the leadership of Jacques Aubé, Espace St-Denis will continue to thrive and play a leading role for the cultural industry in Quartier Latin.
“After a rigorous selection process, on behalf of the Board of Directors of La Compagnie France Film, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jacques Aubé as Chief Executive Officer of Espace St-Denis. Jacques not only embodies the future of this iconic institution but also represents a true continuity in the succession of this essential cultural space in the metropolis. His long and prolific experience in the cultural industry makes him the best candidate to entrust Espace St-Denis and all our assets,” says Serge Gendron, Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Compagnie France Film.
L'Espace St-Denis allows the Théâtre St-Denis to maintain its place as a leader in the field of popular arts while actively participating in the overall development of culture. The economic and tourism benefits for Quartier Latin are undeniable, particularly in the current context of the revival of the performing arts.
"I am deeply attached to Montreal, and in everything I do, it is important for me to contribute to the city's influence. Having studied at UQAM, I have seen St-Denis through several seasons of life, and taking care of this space is investing in our identity, our culture, our emotions. A strong downtown requires the revival of Quartier Latin and Espace St-Denis. It is a place for the performing arts, culture, and even gastronomy. Espace St-Denis also enriches the offer of the Quartier des Spectacles, of which it is a part. It has always been a venue for songs, comedy, and variety shows. It is time to offer it a future that lives up to its heritage and to give it the facilities it deserves. I am proud to be part of this revival." shares Jacques Aubé, President & CEO of La Compagnie France Film and General Manager of Espace St-Denis.
