Damien Robitaille presents his new album Ultraviolet

Available February 14 on all platforms!
Montreal, February 10, 2025 – This Friday Damien Robitaille will release his sixth album, Ultraviolet, for which he wrote the music and lyrics. The nine new bright and witty songs are available for preorder on every platform. You might have already heard the first two singles, Kaléidoscope and Limousine, which were unveiled these past few weeks.
This Audiogram release features the sounds of acoustic guitars and synths, in addition to blending languages, eras, and Damien’s musical influences. From one song to the next, the singer-songwriter tackles ’90s dance music (Kaléidoscope, Point de non-retour), country disco (Désynchronisé), and ’70s folk-pop (Paruline Paruline).
Ultraviolet includes two songs in English, namely (She’s Got That) Je ne sais quoi, the album opener, and Superheroine, the closing track.
Ultraviolet is meticulously crafted by producer Carl Bastien and recording engineer Nicolas Roberge; both share the mixing duties. Richard Addison from Trillium Sound collaborated on the mastering of the album.
(She’s Got That) Je ne sais quoi is inspired by ‘90s electronic dance music. The playful lyrics blend French and English.
Kaléidoscope is the first song that Damien finished during the creative process, setting the tone for the album. It’s a gently nostalgic track that deftly mixes references to various eras. “Sometimes you only need to spin elements from your memories and your conscience to shift your view of reality,” says Damien.
Limousine is driven by an acoustic guitar. The limousine is a metaphor that lets us imagine landscapes that go by like a movie. “It’s the freedom of a road trip, a journey you never want to end,” explains Damien.
Désynchronisé is a festive, country-tinged disco number featuring the banjo.
Paruline Paruline calls to mind ’70s folk-pop. It was inspired by the sound of Paul McCartney and Nick Drake.
Point de non-retour draws on ‘90s dance music influences, with some acoustic guitar.
Ultraviolet brings back the feel of ’90s reggae. Light is the central theme as it weaves a tapestry of dazzling imagery.
Aurores boréales unfolds a gentle, poetic melody, played on the piano and on synthesizers.
Superheroine features a few gospel touches. It’s about the desire to be saved, and it introduces a new take on heroic figures – the female kind.

About Damien Robitaille
Since the turn of the millennium, Damien Robitaille has made his mark as both a songwriter and as a singer who covers hits from others. Hailing from Lafontaine, a small Franco-Ontarian village, he now lives in Montreal. After signing with the label Audiogram, he has released six albums so far, each featuring his witty sense of humour. He has notably won the Prix Félix-Leclerc at Les Francos de Montréal.
His latest and arguably greatest exploit: since 2020, he has been posting videos on social media in which he covers famous songs, showcasing his skills as a multi-instrumentalist by playing every part. He tackles all genres successfully, which has earned him the Félix award in the Online Artist of the Year category at the Gala de l’ADISQ in 2021 and 2022. Five years after the release of Bientôt ce sera Noël, Damien returns with his new album, Ultraviolet.
