Montreal, August 5, 2024 – Les Productions 1984 are proud to announce that CHARLIE TANGO, a film written, produced, and directed by Simon Boisvert, will open in Montreal and Toronto on August 23, 2024. The Montreal-shot thriller stars David La HayeStacie MistysynBruce Dinsmore, and Peter Miller.

 

Synopsis

Kim (Stacie Mistysyn), an air traffic controller under investigation after a tragic plane crash, is recruited by Charlie (David La Haye), her lover who specializes in lucrative real estate investments. Her police officer husband, Jeff (Bruce Dinsmore), soon begins to suspect that Charlie is at the head of a major embezzlement scheme.

For actress Stacie Mistysyn, it's a return to the screen after a long break, having played the character of Caitlin Ryan in the popular TV series Degrassi for many years.


The soundtrack was composed by Oliver Palotai, keyboardist for heavy metal band Kamelot. See Oliver Palotai talk about the project here

 

CHARLIE TANGO in festivals

The film was presented this spring at the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, where it won 1strunner up in the Best Foreign Film category, as well as at the Manhattan International Film Festival. In September, the Richmond International Film Festival will screen the film, which has already been pre-selected as a finalist in the Best Feature Film category. 


About Simon Boisvert

Following studies in business administration and actuarial science, Simon Boisvert started a translation company in the early 1990s, which he still owns and manages today. At the turn of the millennium, without any training nor experience, he financed, produced, wrote and acted in a few independent films, some of which he directed himself, with meager budgets and a hectic shooting schedule. In 2009, he decided to take a long break from filmmaking. This year, he is back with Charlie Tango, a thriller that contrasts sharply with his earlier, more talkative films about relationships
