"One of the greatest musicians of our time" - i-D "In its highest register, Caroline Polachek's voice sounds like it might have slipped loose from the circuits of a synthesizer." - NPR “Polachek has a trickster’s interest in creative manipulation: she is both the magician and the woman stepping into the box.” - THE NEW YORKER “One of progressive pop music's most revered songwriters.” - THE FADER

MONTRÉAL, QC - February 9, 2022 - Caroline Polachek returns with the release of her highly-anticipated new psych-pop single “Billions”. Produced by Danny L Harle and Polachek, the song is a sprawling, kaleidoscopic odyssey that crescendos with a transcendent children’s chorus performed by London’s renowned Trinity Boys Choir. Fans of Polachek will be instantly familiar with the song after it’s frequent appearance in her live performances last year. The New Yorker described “Billions” as “oceanic and potent.” The release is accompanied by a visual co-directed by Polachek and her frequent visual collaborator Matt Copson. Watch HERE.

On the record, Polachek says: “The overabundance of this world overwhelms me. Sometimes it seems like ultimate tragedy, the earth being pillaged and destroyed for it. Sometimes it seems pre-human, beyond morality, sublime. I don’t pick sides, I just live here, with you. How does it feel, being so rich?”

Tonight also kicks off her 28 date supporting gig on Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia tour (alongside Megan Thee Stallion and Lolo Zouaï), and will be playing the Coachella festival in April. On top of the Future Nostalgia tour, Polachek will have headlining shows in Chattanooga, New Haven, Cleveland, Saint Louis, Flagstaff, Santa Cruz, and Tacoma. Last year, Polachek embarked on a headlining tour and made festival appearances at the Governors Ball, Pitchfork Music Festival, Outside Lands, and more. Her recent live performances have garnered praise from Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, and more.

To top it off, Polachek is dropping a 7” single, featuring “Billions” and a new rework of “Long Road Home”, her collaboration with Oneohtrix Point Never, originally released as the lead single off of his 2020 album Magic Oneohtrix Point Never. Special-edition translucent red vinyl is now available for pre-order.

Polachek’s 2019 breakthrough album, PANG, earned her late night television performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Night Show with James Corden, and praise from NPR, Pitchfork, The FADER, Paste, NYLON, Vice, with Dazed naming it the #1 album of 2019. Lead single “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” has amassed 51M global streams to date and continues to gain momentum 3 years later, entering the Billboard Rock & Alternative charts in January 2022 and igniting a dance trend on TikTok. “Bunny Is A Rider,” her first original release in 2021 following 2019’s PANG, landed atop multiple year end lists and was crowned #1 Best Song of 2021 by Pitchfork. “Billions” provides a first glimpse of what’s to come from Caroline this year.
