BEYOND THE STAGE: NEW PULSE REPORT REVEALS MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS AMONG CANADIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKER

Montreal, QC, August 14th, 2025 – Revelios releases the Soundcheck Survey Pulse Report – Summer 2025, a follow-up to its groundbreaking spring study on mental health in the Canadian music industry. This edition spotlights the experiences of non-artist professionals : employees, managers, producers, crew, educators, venue staff, and others, revealing a crisis that extends far beyond performers.

Key findings from over 450 respondents paint a stark picture:

  • 85% have experienced mental health challenges

  • 42% have felt that their life was not worth living

  • 84% say that their current working environment does not support their mental health

  • 38% of respondents are getting the rest they need to perform their best

  • 69% report stigma as an issue when reaching out for mental health support

  • 95% believe the industry could do more to address current mental health challenges

The report challenges the misconception that mental health struggles are primarily an “artist issue,” and underscores the systemic nature of the crisis across the entire music ecosystem. Issues such as financial instability, toxic workplace culture, discrimination, irregular schedules, and lack of support are affecting the mental well-being of those behind the scenes.

As the industry evolves, this data calls for urgent, collaborative action to build a healthier and more sustainable work culture for everyone in the music industry, including those who are not exclusively artists.

The survey will continue collecting responses until September 30, 2025, with a comprehensive final report and set of recommendations expected in early 2026.

Next Steps:

Music industry workers are encouraged to participate in the confidential, anonymous survey at www.revelios.com/soundcheck and to share these early findings to amplify awareness and drive change.
