BETTA LEMME UNVEILS HER NEW EP :

GOOD MOURNING

This EP isn’t just about grief. It’s about the nonlinear, complicated, beautiful ways we

come back to ourselves. - Betta Lemme

Montreal, may 30 2025 Montreal artist Betta Lemme is releasing her EP Good Mourningtoday, Friday May 30 ! This EP revolves around the five stages of grief, though not linearly. The songs explore denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, but they evolve in relation to one another - just like real emotions do. Sometimes, you reach the end only to return to the beginning. It’s about the messy nature of the grieving process - whether it's the loss of a person, love, time, or identity.

Each of the five tracks represents a facet of this emotional landscape:

The EP opens with its title track, Good Mourning, which captures the search for emotional grounding - a longing to find an inner “home”. Written as a stream of consciousness, it carries a bittersweet nostalgia for what once was - or what we wish had been. It’s the sincerest piece Betta Lemme has created. No embellishments, just her and the song.

When It’s Over deals with loss in its rawest form. Inspired by the death of her best friend in 2020, the track captures those final moments together - when you know it’s the end, but can’t bring yourself to accept it. Though it sounds like a breakup song, it’s really a cry from the heart in the face of the impossible: “I can’t get over when it’s over.”

The tension between pretending to be okay and silently falling apart is the feeling explored in Let’s Pretend / I Don’t Wanna Know. Born from two interludes combined, this track illustrates the mask we wear to protect others, followed by the moment when pain resurfaces - raw, brutal, but filled with resilience. It’s grief in its truest form.

Is There Anyone Out There? Reflects isolation, lost time, and the slow realization that vulnerability is sometimes the only way through. “Is There Anyone Out There?” is a rhetorical question we ask aloud - and that’s when healing begins.

That’s Life is a raw outlet, born of a year consumed by grief. “I was on the floor, unable to breathe, talking to the ones who were gone, looking for signs to keep going. Then the strength came back.” This song is everything: pain, rage, joy, clarity. “It’s me laughing and crying at the same time - because that’s life,” shares Betta Lemme.
